Antimony trioxide exporters continue to raise their offers as the concluded price in domestic market kept increasing, presently the export offer is in the range of USD14,600-15,000t FOB China for antimony trioxide. The prices of antimony ingot 99.65%min and trioxide 99.5%min maintained the upward trend in the past week pushed by the short supply and speculation by some investors.
The US antimony trioxide market has experienced new increases this week as supplies grow tighter in China.The rising Chinese consumption and limited production from Q4 2010 smelter closures has cause suppliers to hold offers. The price for antimony trioxide 99.5%min in the US market rose from USD6.50-6.70lb to USD6.65-6.85lb over the past few days. Prices are expected to keep the positive trend through Q2 as supplies continue to be hindered by the Chinese smelter closures in late 2010.
European market participants reported that the prices of antimony products soared in the previous weeks following the upward trend in China. Presently the closing prices are USD15,600-16,200t and USD13,500-14,100t Warehouse Rotterdam respectively for antimony ingot 99.65%min and trioxide 99.5%min, and customers go on purchasing hand to mouth at this price level.
Presently the closing price for antimony ingot at INR750kg in India with some suppliers quoting around INR800kg as it is hard for them to get antimony ingot from China. An Indian-based trader told Asian Metal that the present price of antimony ingot is around INR750kg.
